  the man vs nature and man vs man thing was really interesting. I would’ve liked it to explore the breakdown of masculinity aspect even more, but the foreshadowing and storytelling at the beginning was nice. Clear storytelling but the second half mostly felt like you were just watching a survival film, so nothing completely ingenious. Still a very well rounded film.

  every shot feels so well thought out, the dialogue is emotive & moves the story along without being overly expositional. it’s hard to make a period piece engaging to non history buffs without making it feel like an exchange of information and facts but i was hooked. lost me a bit on the last episode but luckily emily watsons acting reeled me back in - excellently written character. need a cigarette.
