I don't think there is any other war film that does as good job of a job portraying the dark reality of war and truly encompasses the phrase "War is hell" as well as "๐๐ฐ๐ฎ๐ฆ ๐ข๐ฏ๐ฅ ๐๐ฆ๐ฆ".
It was interesting to see the Germans and traitors get killed by the partisans. I believe it symbolizes that war is a cycle, when one side attacks, the other side feels a strong obligation to attack back, whether it be for self-defense orโฆ
This film was something else, very original. The production blew my mind. The fact that they really got that boat over the hill blows my mind. Klaus Kinski's performance was impressive too, especially considering his reputation off screen. Shoutout to all the cast who put up with him and happy birthday to the hardcore madman that is Werner Herzog.
What was Tom Holland, aka Spiderman, thinking to have Chucky say, "I have a date with a six-year-old boy???"
Thatโs got to be the most out-of-pocket line Iโve seen in a horror movie, at least.

My first Edward Yang film, ๐ ๐ช ๐ ๐ช is a beautiful film on family, love, loss, and hardship. I loved the dialogue with Ota and the beautiful shots in the oriental red venue. The 3-hour run time is a bit too long in my opinion, but the ending wraps everything up wonderfully.
It's kind of ironic that I watched this on my dad's birthday too.
