Godzilla 1954
Godzilla feels like a perfect encapsulation of the fears of a nation uniquely familiar with the havoc which human innovation can wreak. The titular creature, however, is not made in a lab, but awakened from his slumber due to the destruction of his habitat by underwater nuclear weapons testing. This way he represents the natural consequence of the use of science for destructive purposes: annihilation.

Feels like this quite interesting premise wasn't used to maximum effect tbh. Justin's change from attempting to force a mistrial/not guilty verdict to voting guilty just happens off-screen? Feels like an important character moment to brush over like that, especially when the film finds its stride within its depiction of his internal battle.
The questions the movie raises about the collision between self-interest and justice, as well as if self interest in actuality is even an ethically dubious thing rather…
