The secondhand embarrassment is strong with this one. Captures the absolute cringiness of being an early teen, especially during the height of MySpace. Americanizing oneself to fit in more, and being so anti-your-own-culture hits hard for so many children of immigrant parents. It's upsetting seeing Didi lash out, but what middle schooler isnt unlikeable? Also, the last shot of his mom looking at him like her proudest accomplishment was wonderful. This movie made me uncomfortable at parts, but only because I saw myself in him.
