The Plot Against Harry 1971
You know, I enjoyed this more than I thought I would - also, in a different way than I expected. It’s a very slice-of-life comedy/drama with expert pacing and certain shots are absolutely fantastic (one being the camera following Harry walking out of the elevator when the firemen are there). I was expecting a laugh out loud comedy, but it’s more sensitive and sure - what I mean is, it’s the small ways each and everything fails for the character, like a less neurotic George Costanza.

Pulse 2001
The film is truly a 3.75/5 for me.
I actually loved this film. It’s genuinely scary and creepy at times, it’s disjunctive on purpose which adds to the themes and character POVs, it’s supernatural surrealism(?), and it’s never flinching when you guess what’s going on. It’s a movie I need to watch about 8 more times to fully get, but here’s the issue: sometimes the movie loses itself and I’m not sure there’s always something to understand in the scenes. The last 30 minutes of the movie hurts it in tremendous ways I wish it didn’t. I will watch again, fantastic story.

The Substance 2024
This movie is disgusting on almost every level, and while you wince, gag, and look away - you always come back to see what happens. The story is fantastic and a dream for those who want to write about its myriad meanings, yet to get to the story you have to work through the most grueling body horror I’ve witnessed.
Acting is incredible, cinematography is top notch, and please give this movie an Oscar in any sound design category. Coralie Fargeat wrote a helluva movie.Translated from by -
Presence 2024
This film is a hard watch for a few reasons - content towards the end and the hard POV cuts. I understand both choices, regardless it’s still a bit rough. That being said, it’s a well done film with the story and the character creation being notable standouts. The end is redeeming - broke my heart and wrapped up beautifully.
