Some lines irked me as it seemed forced, but overall, this film was soulful and warm. It tackles the displacement of homes, while beautifully integrating the importance of family through Ella and Reina's grief of losing a father and finding peace through reconciliation.

This was a lot to take in. There was so much to appreciate, and I'm happy I watched it now, at an age that I can appreciate it more because I wouldn't have been able to understand this years ago. To watch this on IMAX 70mm was just an incredible experience.

Toshio Matsumo beautifully portrays human complexities from identities, behaviors, and relationships through his film, Funeral Parade of Roses. It honors the original film, yet exceeds expectations. I felt this fleshed out the characters and the story more. The mix of the rock instrumentals and choral vocals was beautifully made, clashing faith and insanity. The set could have been better, it felt too flat, but overall, the actors, the lights, the music, the script, and everything else made this film as impactful as it could have, if not more than the original.
