Horror movies are simultaneously the best and worst movies ever made. Gosh, I love 'em. I like other movies too. Mostly throwback comedies.

Leprechaun 4: In Space 1997
Somehow both “so bad that it’s good” and so bad that it’s bad.
Leprechaun 4: In Space is a trashy movie. It’s shot really poorly, the effects are really janky, and the script is really dumb. Unfortunately (and fortunately) there are a few too many funny bits and entertaining moments to keep it from being a .5 or something truly horrible. It’s still horrible, but not truly.
There are too many things to note of the film’s stupidity but between the boom mic popping up in shots, pointless musical numbers, and dumb monologues, the movie has a major identity crisis.
I’ll ultimately identify it as “dumb.”

The Kentucky Fried Movie 1977
“Show me your nuts.”
An early work of Zuckers, Abraham’s, and Zuckers and John Landis, The Kentucky Fried Movie (named after the trios comedy group) is an odd movie to review because it’s more of a comedic collage—an anthology—than a singular definable film. Anora 2024
I had an eyebrow raised for about 2/3 of this movie. But then they both furrowed… because I was gripped.
Anora is the Academy’s “Best Picture” of 2024. Is it truthfully though? No, but I thought it was good.
Basically, Anora is 1/3 porn, 1/3 where’s Waldo, and 1/3 profound screenwriting. I suppose you need a bit of acts one and two to appreciate act three, but sadly for Anora the gratuitous sex scenes and the (albeit somewhat funny) cat-and-mouse weren’t…

Maniac Cop 1988
This will definitely be a guilty pleasure.
Maniac Cop certainly isn’t a “good” movie, but it’s a fun one. I live for stupid movies.
This one pulls out all the stops. You got Larry Cohen on writing, William Lustig on directing, Tom Atkins and Bruce Campbell… it’s like a band. A band of misfits. And, of course, produced by Koffman and Troma.
Maniac Cop knows what it is. It has overly verbose, dumb exposition, pointless violence, and shallow characters. It’s…
