Akron 2015
Lovely movie! Cinematically speaking, nothing crazily, but I really enjoyed the story line. Even though the crux of the film’s conflict was mad every obvious within the first few moments, I think it was handled well and as a viewer, I was allowed to sit with that information then watch to see when and how it would unfold. I didn’t love the resolve at the end. I tend to prefer a conclusion-arc that is more than a scene long—I just…

Saltburn 2023
Captivating and sinister. Thrilling and eerie without being spine chilling. Great narratively. The frame story popped up just often enough to clue me in, but not so much that I was constantly taken out of the moment or expecting point-blank descriptions to fill me in. Beautiful cinematically as well. The dramaturgy was nearly perfect, with all of the design and technical elements making me believe it took place in ‘06-07 without being so on-the-nose that I was distracted. And of course the leading men (& Farleigh!) were superbly handsome! With Elordi, it’s the energy; Keoghan has it all. 10/10.

10 Things I Hate About You 1999
A classic and perfect viewing for Valentine’s Day with friends. Felt nostalgic, but not like a period piece. That turn-of-the-century sweet spot on the cusp of what I can remember. Per usual, some plot points would be better understood without cellphone usage and convo, but still a great feel good option for gabbing with your girls!

Gorgeous movie. Cinematically: Stunning. Plot concept: great, but I do think Rachel’s naivety was a bit far-fetched. That said, every relationship is different, so maybe it really didn’t come up. Would definitely rewatch without my phone to pay better attention.
