Even though I was already aware that Princess Mononoke doesn’t deal in perfect black and whites of morality, it was only during my most recent viewing, that I was able to find my own words for that: For me, this film functions as a great depiction of systemic forces and pressures, as well as emotions, fears and failings, making people act in cruel ways.

Hard to „like“ a film that made me feel really gross and uncomfortable through most of its runtime, but - But! - an amazing piece of cinema nonetheless/exactly for that reason.
Brilliantly acted, beautifully shot, sometimes uproariously funny and most of all just thrillingly tense and realistic in its depiction of patriarchal structures and everyday misogyny.
10/10, don‘t want to watch again for a good long while. Please make more movies Anna Kendrick.
I both cannot and also can believe that every time I see this movie, I find something new to be fascinated by, something else to appreciate and ponder. This time it was the direction - the way the camera was kept still in some shots, the minimalist but excellent soundscape and use of music - as well as just the sheer weight and fluidity of the animation. Every movement, every jump, kick, landing, even putting on clothes, it all just has weight and believability written all over it. God I love this movie.
