Even though I was already aware that Princess Mononoke doesn’t deal in perfect black and whites of morality, it was only during my most recent viewing, that I was able to find my own words for that: For me, this film functions as a great depiction of systemic forces and pressures, as well as emotions, fears and failings, making people act in cruel ways.
