Despite its somewhat potpourri of SF influences which gives it a predictable side in its narrative construction, the film is still enjoyable to watch, notably thanks to a fairly effective editing, its comedy around death and its concept of expendables (without neglecting
the questions that arise from it) and a Robert Pattinson in full ham who perfectly manages to give his different incarnations a very distinct physicality and intonation.
I would have perhaps liked a less Hollywood ending and a slightly more virulent satire (but that unfortunately is also a bit due to the current context which goes a little too far beyond fiction)

Explosive and unflattering portrait of a pathetic and megalomaniacal author. It's a bit like the Joker but good (by being a bit caricatured). Serebrennikov's direction is impressive in its inventiveness and panache.

Again with Kitano, it's beautiful and melancholic.
I really like the young duo and their quest for meaning in their lives. Joe Hisaishi's music is always magnificent. In short it's really good (but I prefer Hana-Bi I think)

The way Kurosawa readapts Hamlet into contemporary Japan is brilliant. The staging perfectly highlights, thanks to its light which plays on chiaroscuro, the film's themes of impunity and injustice.
