    Watched the 205 min. director's cut Blu-ray.

With a few of the "JFK files" being unveiled to the public since yesterday, I thought it was a great a time as any to rewatch this absolute monster of a movie.

Albanian cinema is definitely a blind spot for me, and this dark comedy about arranged marriage, corruption (of the state and the church) is certainly a surprise.

Circus, amputations, crimes, murder, ambiguous morals, religion, double identities, deformities, obsession, Lon Chaney being a weirdo... Yep, it's a Browning film.
All of his movies are basically people playing roles that overwhelm them to a point that they are reduced to being, or even remembered as, the role they took on ; this one being the most straightforward, and among his best.

How even do you pitch a movie like this and get it made ?
