I'm still catching up on a lot of film releases from 2013, but this one easily stands as my favorite of the year so far. Greta Gerwig is a revelation as the main character. Her vulnerability and fearlessness in the role was absolutely amazing to watch. She's not afraid to play up the faults in the character or worry about what others think of her. There are some sections of this film that were spectacular to watch...and there were some sections of the film that didn't work at all. Unfortunately I think the film has less of the great moments than I had hoped. The characters and the performances aren't all that interesting. The score and soundtrack were my favorite parts of the film. I would suggest just buying the soundtrack to ingest the best part of the film. The visual effects and production design of the ravaged Earth were great but this wasn't an overall enjoyable experience.
