    OSCAR PROJECT 2020: #9
    Goodfellas (1990, Martin Scorsese)

It's so interesting watching this after loving "The Irishman" from last year. I honestly think "The Irishman" is a stronger film, but this one was pretty great too. Even though it's almost 2.5 hours, it moved at a very quick pace and was never boring.

The cast is fantastic. The core 5 actors are all fantastic. Joe Pesci won the Oscar this year for Supporting Actor and I would say it was…

    OSCAR PROJECT 2020: #8
    Jerry Maguire (1996, Cameron Crowe)

Netflix just added this movie yesterday so it seemed like the perfect time to watch this for my Oscar project.

I'm still catching up on a lot of film releases from 2013, but this one easily stands as my favorite of the year so far. Greta Gerwig is a revelation as the main character. Her vulnerability and fearlessness in the role was absolutely amazing to watch. She's not afraid to play up the faults in the character or worry about what others think of her. It's a truly great performance. I also loved the arc of the film. If it…

There are some sections of this film that were spectacular to watch...and there were some sections of the film that didn't work at all. Unfortunately I think the film has less of the great moments than I had hoped. The characters and the performances aren't all that interesting. The score and soundtrack were my favorite parts of the film. I would suggest just buying the soundtrack to ingest the best part of the film. The visual effects and production design of the ravaged Earth were great but this wasn't an overall enjoyable experience.
