The Restoration 2024
Wether it’s deliberate or not, I know deep down there’s a moving metaphor for the loneliness of pregnancy in this film. Yet I think the plot could’ve been more developed, and the English dialogue feels very flat at times which I think hinders the actors’ performances at certain points. I think there’s a beautiful film that explores different types of isolation hidden here somewhere, from the little kid’s cultural and language limitations, to the brother’s fear of intimacy, to the main character’s grief. But despite the gorgeous photography, there’s so much of their mourning that gets lost and felt underdeveloped.
