Evil Dead Rise 2023
A refreshing theatrical horror release and audience experience. A well executed straightforward story. Well casted and acted, but the Kings presence was sorely missed. Not much character connection or care who will live or die. The comedic secret sauce of Evil Dead slipped through the young directors hands who obviously played it safe. The lack of creative camera movement during action sequences was felt, as well as the creativity of Deadite possession was a miss. Well executed practical FX - blood porn! Yet, felt more like a sequel to Incidius, (whose trailer played before the film) than a continuation of Evil Dead.
