Antidote to the old cowboy and injun westerns, more in the Sam Peckinpah mould. Written, directed and starring Vigo Mortensen though Vicky Krieps as the fiercely independent homemaker dominates the film. Its slow pace and survival narrative reminded me of Mortensen and the boy in The Road not least his twist on the ending of his quest to the ocean. But not the end of the world this time instead "the start of another".

Never did want to go on a cruise ship and this says I never will. A lurid neon prison which the cinematography captured perfectly. A place of boredom, drunken excess and regret.
