Mortal Kombat 1995
Fire soundtrack, love seeing familiar characters, cheesy CGI and over the top scenes give it the classic Mortal Kombat feel from the original game, and it’s very fun and campy. I thinks I’ve watched this movie 4 times already, and it holds a lot of childhood memories for me. I <3 Mortal Kombat!!

Excellent cinematography with an interesting black and white 4:3 frame. It had interesting social and political themes while still managing to be accessible and focused on the main characters. With all that said, I didn’t find myself being super immersed in the film. Wonderful emotional scenes throughout though.

Monster 2004
Naoki Urasawa’s original story is an absolute masterpiece, and this is an incredible adaptation from the manga that follows it by heart. I first watched this in 8th grade and it was honestly one of the best psychological pieces of media I had viewed up until that point. Urasawa does a great job exploring the human psyche and what it means to be true evil, or a “monster.” Johan Liebert is one of the most ruthless villains I’ve ever encountered…
