Ad Astra is a most worthy successor of the space-odyssey genre.
Visually it is impeccable, as colorful and baroque as 2001: A Space Odyssey and Blade Runner 2049. Its slow march warrants every minute of screen time.
Spicing up these visuals is a solid (albeit, less memorable) score and the occasional, sweet baritone narration by Brad Pitt, whose performance is as complex as the emotionally-stunted character he embodies.
