I love this film with deep hesitancy; it’s of the same conflict I consider the Antichrist.
If only it had been created by Woman—like I initially misgathered—I would stand more like Bella behind the rating I’ve nonetheless granted. I’d be assured rather than hindered by the acknowledgement that context is everything.
While Old displays some of the most gorgeously experimental cinematography I have witnessed to date, the narrative falls short, specifically lacking in its concluding scenes. Seeing the film is an overall enjoyable experience, but its abrupt derailing of sensible story-telling puts any other quality it may possess at immediate risk, and quite truthfully taints the production as a whole.
