The World According to Garp 1982
The movie is very interesting and the character driven story is captivating. However, the interesting characters often behave in a way that does not have understandable motivations and is confusing. And not in a profound way. And with the time jumps and editing the movie does not “flow”. The story of garp is emotional and at times poignant but is held back by these mistakes. It might be the adaptation from novel that caused the choppiness and confusing characters. The only major character whose actions always reflected understandable and consistent motivations was lithgows trans character.
