Vague commentary on religious extremism, childhood brainwashing, and othering/scapegoating but also colonialism, elitism, racism, snd homophobia in religious and young men’s spaces but more specifically Mexico. So, kind of a lot going on. Also, maybe pedophilia? Also it’s Lord of the Flies, Shyamalan’s The Village, and, the infamous, Salo? A lot going on in this movie. Kind of goes from 0 to 100 in the 3rd act - including multiple child murders!
