The plot about a stripper marrying a billionaire might sound cliché, but this movie suprised me in many ways! The dialogues were so funny and i LOVED the combination of Anora’s bad bitch energy but also seeing a sad side of her. At first i found the ending a bit strange, but the more i think about it, the more i realise how heartbreaking and pure this moment was. I can definitely understand why it won the oscars!

“If you want to get on in this world there are things you have to ignore.”
This line describes harsh realities of this dark piece of Irish history that I knew little to nothing about. Although I was hoping the plot would be a bit more about the experience of the girls in the Magdalene laundry houses and less about the personal trauma of an outsider, the film still told a lot without showing little. The film was slow and a little too evocative at times, but Cillian Murphy's acting and the cinematography were phenomenal!
