El documental entiende muy bien el contexto, las contradicciones y los ánimos del país. Hay unos contrastes muy berracos y unas tomas muy bien logradas cinematográficamente hablando. Al documental no le interesan las respuestas fáciles y rara vez cae en el sentimentalismo o, peor aún, el infantilismo que es común en este género. Es un tema duro pero tratado con dignidad y humanidad. Ojalá circule mucho - lo voy a usar como referencia para cuando alguien de fuera del país quiera saber de la realidad del país pos-acuerdos de La Habana.

Meeting the Man: James Baldwin in Paris 1970
As most reviewers have pointed out, the filmmakers’ unwillingness to engage with James Baldwin’s message makes for an infuriating but ultimately very telling and insightful watch. Baldwin is, as always, extremely lucid and sharp, and his charisma carries the documentary through in spite of Dixon and his petty original vision for the film. The restoration is also beautiful to watch.
