It’s been a while since I disliked a character as much as I disliked Woodcock, and that was almost to the detriment of my enjoyment of the film. Luckily the character of Alma, the sumptuous score and delicate cinematography carried me through.

Black Bag 2025
Knew next to nothing about this going in which made for a refreshing watch.
You can immediately tell it’s going to cut straight to the chase and an extended dinner scene had me leaning in and really intrigued as to what the film wanted to do.
I struggled a bit with Fassbender’s take on his character but in the end I think it added to the tightness of this thriller.
Really solid script made even more palatable by its run time.

Starship Troopers 1997
Almost 30 years late to the party but I had a blast with this. Love the gore, creature design, special effects, action, unnecessary nudity. And it genuinely manages to create a nice little group of comrades that we care about.
There are enough aspects taken seriously to make it a great action film. Just gives you what you want without worrying about trying to be anything it’s not.
