  Bill Burr: Drop Dead Years 2025

  Never watched a Bill special before but have loved his pro Luigi tirades recently. Nothing groundbreaking but just solid jokes the whole way through. For all this talk recently of a "Joe Rogan of the left" I've enjoyed Bills staunchly lefty positions on most issues, going against the grain of the comedy world at the moment. There's some retrograde stuff in here but it's mostly good natured if you're able to laugh at yourself and read between the lines.

  Whilst I found the script ever so slightly clumsy at times, this is a great and important work for addressing the radicalisation of young men at the moment. The single shot takes are dynamic and immersive (despite it being a trend I'm largely unimpressed by these days) and the performances are fantastic all round.

  This film presents a brutal marital disintegration paired with part Lovecraft, part Cronenbergian body horror. Adjani's performance is unhinged, fully decoupled from reality, presenting a woman possessed. I loved the swooping camera shots and the uncompromising editing, creating a viewing experience as jarring as the on-screen couple's relationship.

  I'm so glad movies like this are being made. The Internet has existed long enough now for its weird mythologies to be explored, and this documentary does an astonishing job of explaining how a stoner comic of a cartoon frog saying "feels good man" got co-opted by online white supremacist and nazi circles and turned into a hate symbol.
