It’s a masterclass in shot composition, crafted with immense care and precision. Eggers knew exactly what he wanted the film to be and how he wanted to tell the story. The symbolism is layered and thought provoking, the dialogue is flawless, and those performances. I mean, come on. If this movie wasn’t so inaccessible to the casual viewer both Robert Pattinson and Willam Defoe would easily have Oscar’s.

I knew this one was going to hit hard going in and it definitely hit harder. Zac Efron put up an amazing performance so props to him. It’s ultimately about what it means to be a father, a brother, a family. I can’t imagine how much tragedy that family went through, and especially Kevin von Erich.
