  A mostly dull blockbuster with some great moments sprinkled in. A lot of my issues with Ridley scott over the past decade are littered all across this. Was excited about Paul mescals casting but he isnt given much opportunity to shine or make the role his own, hes essentially told to be Maximus 2.0 but he lacks the gravitas of Russel Crowe. Denzel Washington is a scene stealer and everytime he was on screen my interest peaked.

  Cool action sequences, poor CGI and cinematography with some pretty solid performances all around. Standard Ridley Scott film in 2024.

  I will forever be the biggest hater of this film. The fact it won best picture is the biggest indictor of the academy being out of touch with society. A white savior, not all white people are bad film when touching on real life history and topics is hilarious. 
  Viggo Mortensen and Mahershala Ali are great as always but are given an honestly dreadful and tone deaf script to work with. Almost as bad as Driving Miss Daisy.
