Color palettes, acting, makeup and visual effects. There’s so much to take in and I almost feel like I should’ve walked back in for a second screening to get a greater appreciation. I think this film paid tremendous homage to its predecessors while creating an entirely unique path for Count Orlock to be reimagined. I’m so ready to see it again.

I think people will be talking about Chalamet’s performance as Bob Dylan for years to come. There was no big “stunner” moment that most typical Oscar-contending performances tend to have. He was Nicholson in Five Easy Pieces and Stanton in Paris, Texas good. I enjoyed the heck out of this movie. This true story follows New Zealand writer Janet Frame from childhood to adulthood, telling her family life, struggles with a mental disability (remains in question), and her emerging writing career. It's filmed with conviction, allowing the character to dictate the narrative as we progress through different stages in her life; dealing with loss, falling in love, and success. It's exceptionally cast with 3 actors portraying Frame with similar awkwardness and disheveled personality, with her trademark bright red curly hair. This is without a doubt the best biographical film I have ever seen. Director Jane Campion cares about Frame's story; a national treasure with many flaws.
