This one (bath)room horror had some grim story themes & fleeting moments of effective atmosphere, but all in all the good stuff amounts to little and stands small against the growing tedium and lack of any real development. 15-20 minutes less would’ve improved this.

Why, I love watching smart men doing complicated stuff I’d never come in contact with in my whole life. Solid underwater adventure, it doesn’t mess around or go into unnecessary territories. It’s a movie that delivers exactly what it promises, no more no less, emphasis on no more though.

Wasn’t expecting much, but I am a sucker for many things, including violent modern westerns and this one sure as hell delivered. It looks amazing, production design and cinematography are top notch, and the overall mood is consistently grim, dark and dangerous. The story might not have that X factor that’d make this exceptional, and the very ending is slightly underwhelming, but the journey is well worth taking. Stellar cast, too, especially enjoyed Shea Whigham, Lucas Neff & Taylor Kitsch. Very fun stuff.

The French know how to make a grim, grimy, violent, psychedelic and hopeless horror film, this time those skills are used to revitalise the zombie subgenre.

Director of “Them” invokes the powers of fellow maniacs like Xavier Gens, Alexandre Bustillo & Gaspar Noe, and serves up a a wholly engaging if a bit too repetitive descend into hell in one long take.
