I couldn’t catch the flaws people highlight in other reviews because I was too absorbed in the cinematography and script.
I loved it.
Regarding Father Benitez’s comment about their surgery, I didn’t find it transphobic. On the contrary, I felt it spoke to the idea of embracing one’s body and self as they are, being true to who we are without feeling the need to satisfy wht others expect from us.

The Tale of The Princess Kaguya 2013
Probably the most beautiful animated movie I've ever seen. It was like 100x better than I expected. The joyful and tender expressions of the parents (and every character tbh), the way the textures of the fabrics and objects are drawn, and the change in art style when Kaguya feels this huge rage or the divine nature of the people from the moon. It's just mesmerizing.
