  the menu is a schadenfreude comedy w a pretense of class commentary that, à la ruben ostlund’s work, doesn’t actually say much beyond simply that rich people exist and can be cruel (on a personal level) due to their lack of empathy for less powerful people. this is highly marketable material: it seduces its audience with displays of decadence and glamour, then short-circuits any potentially unsavory groans of envy with jolts of sadistic humor at the on-screen bourgeois’ expense. in…

  this is obv a movie for former theatre kids who now drink makers mark and do ketamine and so i felt enormously pandered to and consequently turned off but the sluttiness of it all is fun
