I thought the first-person perspective would take me out of the movie or feel too much like watching someone vlog with a GoPro strapped to their chest, but I wildly underestimated what this could accomplish. This was an incredibly delicate and caring way to tell the stories of the Nickel Boys without exploiting the violent treatment they faced.
