I love a film that shows NYC as it really is. NYC is bright and fullof glamour and excitement and it never sleeps, but there's a chill in the air. And you better learn to survive or leave the city baby. These characters are full of big dreams, and a coldness that comes from survivng the city. Conclave was a warpy mind maze espionage thriller centering the Catholic Church. This was such a window into the patriarchy. The cinematography was phenonmenal. I'd think to myself while watching, " of this movie is kinda tedious.." or then a beautifully well directed secretive subtle moment would emerge or a secret would come out. There was just a bit of a drag in the middle for me, but Ralph Fiennes in the weary detective priest role is 100. The movie overall is rather surprising, especially the last 15 minutes. John Lithgow really cracked me up in this movie also.
