Grave of the Fireflies 1988
One of the best ‘survival films’ I’ve seen. If I had one word to describe it, I think "Raw" fits perfectly.
This film definitely carries a powerful anti-war message, how war dehumanizes and destroys not only physical infrastructure but also the emotional and social fabric of everyday life. I like how the film is inviting the viewers to reflect on life — and the cost of conflict, but also the need for love, compassion, empathy, and peace. Extremely relevant today, and will (sadly) continue to be so in the future.
