Visually wonderful film with great performances, but I wouldn't name it 'All Quiet on the Western Front'.
It's much more about the war itself than the original story. They left out some very important characters from the book as well as many wonderful scenes.
Wonderful performances were given by both of the main characters and all supporting actors/actresses.
Colin Farrell is astonishing as a Pádraic!
Everything was so natural and even though the beginning might be a bit slow-moving for someone, I enjoyed every bit of it. Someone may find it a bit morbid sometimes but even that has its own meaning.
And I think that it is actually a beautiful allegory of the Irish civil war.
