Oh my goodness, what a delectable treat of a movie. Every single shot was gorgeous, the plot and writing and acting were just fantastic, and it unwittingly continued my recent theme of watching movies about the papacy/religious life. Will rewatch before long.

A brilliantly satisfying film for many reasons, the preeminent being its dark grittiness and its complex humanization of this sometimes idealized superhero. Though ambitious in length and with numerous late-stage twists and surprises, the film never lost my eager attention, and on a second viewing, I had to pinch myself repeatedly as I excitedly remembered how much runtime remained. A delightful, engaging film well worth your appreciation.
