As a begrudged Impractical Jokers fan, I felt the show lost their best player when Joe left. That being said, this was a skin crawlingly tough watch. Joe came off stiff, his style felt dated, the jokes were non linear nor well thought out. For a hometown show, the audience was incredibly stagnant, aside from the few chuckles that Joe expected to be bigger. I love Joe Gatto but I couldn’t get past 7 minutes.
This film is fluent in cinematic language. It oozes with symbolism and can feel abstract, yet it guides the viewer in a way that isn’t belittling or condescending but rather gentle and encouraging. The David Lynch cameo had me on the edge of my seat but when I found out Elvis Kuehn was in charge of music, I was out of my seat and out of body, feeling like I was in high school again at a FIDLAR show.
