This is a film that is far better than its IMDb rating suggests. It is a quiet English drama/thriller about Donald (played by Gabriel Byrne), a driver for a wealthy businessman, who gets involved with Amber (played brilliantly by Sibylla Deen),his bosses mistress and the wider Bradford Muslim community. Whether this is a genuine insight into the community or not I'm unsure but it did offer a snapshot into a culture that feels under represented in UK cinema. It isn't particularly profound or life affirming but I enjoyed it all the same.

This is, at times, a gripping tale of survival peppered with some gruelling and dedicated method acting. It does sometimes feel like an exercise in testing Christian Bale's endurance and despite capturing the sense of desperation it does feel oddly jingoistic.
