National Theatre Live: Vanya 2024
Andrew Scott demonstrates why people love Andrew Scott for 2 hours. Absolutely insane range, endlessly impressive use of mannerism, facial posturing, voice to create 8 distinct characters and bring the audience along with minimal confusion as they interact with each other.
Climactic scenes a bit castrated by the one-man genre. Feel like they realised they couldn’t do them complete justice without a full cast and so used humour to mitigate the anticlimax (scene where Vanya misses being the main culprit of this).
