  Ivan's Childhood 1962

  A magnificent depiction of a child's lost innocence and childhood under the effects of war and its consequences.

  Scenes where Ivan appears to have a carefree childhood shift between real and the unreal, as we're not fully aware if these are actual past memories or dreams Ivan has. Either way, for a few moments even we get to forget the harsh reality Ivan is going through as the playful scenes feel more fitting with childhood rather than anything else in the world. Later on, we are landed abruptly back into the raw Soviet warzone reminded of the atrocities that humans are capable of committing.

Following
