    A cut I loved:
    When Dawn reads her dignity essay the class is disinterested and when she finishes she looks up. Instead of the expected reverse shot of the class reaction it cuts to the auditorium of students clapping for the “don’t talk to strangers” speaker. It’s a simple scene transition but the message is clear: Dawn’s bravery in reading an essay about grade grubbing in front of the class should be met with the entire school clapping for her. The craft of the film itself is kind and empathetic to Dawn, even when the characters that surround her never are.
