Barbie 2023
After my phase of wanting barbie to have a higher rating than Oppenheimer passed, i took a closer examination of the film’s content (specifically the script). I think it was wrong and insensitive to compare indigenous genocide to Barbieland’s patriarchy coup d-état and as @NotoriousRaven on tik tok says, “this is peak white feminism” because although Barbieland attempted to be inclusive, it left out indigenous Barbies and America Ferrera’s character had to help the white Barbie find herself.
Many of the film’s themes still resonate with me and the film still reaffirms the idea that the patriarchy sucks.Translated from by
