Wonka 2023
Movie left me feeling somewhat disappointed.
Everyone was saying leading up to this movie’s release that timothee chalamet couldn’t pull off willy wonka, and while I do feel like there’s something distinctly wrong with the portrayal, it’s not his fault.
The writing behind this movie and the characters was just awful. Where is the distinctly devious and dark character of willy wonka? I just don’t see how the character goes from this simplistic happy attitude to an eccentric and insane…

Beau Is Afraid 2023

Overall I really like the messages and actual story of the film, but I can’t get past how slow the pacing is. Just painful to watch at times. A lot of this could’ve been cut out, and the ending was pretty disappointing, too.
There’s a lot of really powerful messages in the film about manipulation and this idea of feeling stuck that Beau experiences through the whole movie that I enjoyed. The dream state he was in with the play, the flashbacks to his mother and Elaine, super cool. But a lot of the scenes did fall flat.
