A beautiful mythification of these monsters icons, turning them into silhouetted shapes, literal icons of power and worship. I'm glad this interpretation was given a chance, because it really flourished after its rocky start. It speaks to the creative power of the east that a philosophical take with mostly talking people was given green light, something that would never happen in the west. Indeed, you just have to see the reviews on this site to see people flabbergasted that this franchise "that was never anything more than entertainment" dares to evolve.
