The Pianist 2002
Some would say this film is "unbearably slow", but I think that's kind of the point. War is not permanently filled with action and combat; life continues with little interference for [some of] those in the metropolises. Showcases the persecution of jews by the Nazis fantastically, and portrays how this one went from economic discrimination to full blown genocide. Very "raw" use of colour and lots of opacity. I still don't know how they managed to film such large pieces of destroyed Warsaw. Was this CG?
