I didn't mind the film taking artistic liberties regarding the portrayals of certain characters. If you want absolute truth, watch a documentary.

That being said, watching these edgelords play their Les Pauls was surprisingly comforting. I find the similarities between Macaulay Culkin's Party Monster and Rory Culkin's Lords of Chaos rather eerie.

The colorist and DOP pushed the blacks way down for the scenes containing fire. The way these blacked-out religious symbols framed the fire was mesmerizing. It’s black metal,…

Melvin was one of the most fascinating and flawed characters I've seen in cinema. Rarely do I find the medium of film to be restrictive; however, in the case of exploring the multifaceted Melvin, its limitations worked against the depth of his character. Structured conventional storytelling usually enhances a film, but for 'As Good As It Gets', a looser narrative would have been far more beneficial.

The unique quality of this film is it has the highest concentration of misery that I've possibly ever encountered. It never lets up, there is not a glimmer of hope, or even a breath of air that is not acrid with human misery. It is the film equivalent of being stabbed and having the knife wielder continually twist said knife for an hour and thirty seven minutes. If you watch movies to relax, have fun, unplug or unwind, this is not the film for you.

The film has heart, humanity and if you love seemingly dangerous oddballs you're in for a treat. I don't understand the incel movement as whole, but we've all gone through an awkward stage, and I think that's what helped me relate to their struggles.

These awkward young men living loveless desolate lives have existed forever. Although, it seems not until this internet age did they know they were alone together. It's sad and mildly disturbing but it resolves in a beautiful way that seems obvious but somehow isn't.
