  The Love Witch 2016

  This film is an homage to many things. It's got a campy horror feel, period cinematography(35mm film!), heavy stylized sets & costumes. What brings it together is that it's been shot to look like a 1960s technicolor film!

  The main character is Elaine, a modern day witch, obsessed with love (but has black widow tendencies).The director/writer Anna Biller gives us a feminist perspective on the concepts of love & desire.
  The script was refreshing, the acting on point & the aesthetic was amazing. Definitely worth watching!!

  I understand that slow burners are not for everyone. That being said, I find it can be very worthwhile in the end. Jumpscares are fun, but there's something truly chilling when witnessing the point of no return for the characters. You feel the same helplessness. Watching the horror go down, & there is not a single thing you can do to stop it. That is what we fear in everyday life, no?
