Is this the best looking war film? The action is superb of course but the first 30 minutes around the base have such interesting color choices and texture. I wasn’t expecting much from this but there are a lot of small moments and exchanges that have stuck in my brain all day, like the hand in the dirt or the drawing pad. I like that it tries to do the both-sidesing of the war with Hartnett’s character and then by the end just full on admits it was a mistake. The Temple of Doom of its day.

The Father 2020
One of the most impressive, unique, and heartbreaking films I have ever seen. The acting was absolutely incredible, Anthony Hopkins gives his best performance since Transformers 5, and Silence of the Lambs before that. It’s not a long movie, but the intricate narrative makes great use of its time making it feel much longer than it is. I’m not sure if I will ever rewatch this but I know I’ll never forget it.

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen 2009
This is like Kingsman 2 in that it does the same stuff as the first one but is received way worse. I still loved it just as much as I did when I was 7, and will continue to love until the day I die. Also, I don’t think these movies get enough credit for the effects, this movie is eleven years old and looks like it came out last month.
