  really beautiful, very true to life. the passing of an age. loved every texture and sound and word. this reviewer is biased by the fact that i play baseball regularly with guys more or less exactly like this, or really guys that are soon going to be exactly like this.

  Affecting, glossy, emotional and refreshingly international look at an incredibly overlooked corner of the sports world. Doesn't waste too much time on the usual women's sport "firsts" and "onlys" but could, in my opinion, have included more about the strategies and play itself, as well as the training and prep and finances that goes into the tournament beyond youth upbringing. But I like business and details and already have the preexisting emotional attachment to these random women, so I'm in the minority.

  creepy nazi henchmen, ice queen german moms, cary grant at his most buttoned up, ingrid bergman masterfully playing a woman in perpetual crisis who needs someone, anyone, to actually look out for her. i'm still learning the form but for my money these postwar spy capers go pound for pound against any of the great sweaty 70s paranoia thrillers, in their own chilly, staged way.
