  This movie does not work for me, and I do acknowledge that it isn't FOR me. I do agree with the messages and themes of it but absolutely can't stand the presentation of them. I've only seen one other Spike Lee joint, Blackkklansman, which I absolutely adore. This movie, from the very first combat scene, the one where their helicopter goes down, comes across as cheap and awkward. The creative decision to have the war-torn men be the same age…

  As me and my friend walked out of the theater we witnessed the spit and image of a redditor wojak crouch down to a random 9 year old black kid and shout “WELL, YOU WERE THE TARGET AUDIENCE. WHAT DID YOU THINK?” right in front of his mother.

  How am I supposed to think about this movie after that?
