Monkey Man 2024
Bit of a slow opening and definitely would have been better served as a tight 90 minutes. That gripe aside a great action film with some really creative camera povs.

Excellent film that lives up to the hype. The villain takes in an extra layer of evil considering the director. Doubt I could say much about the film that hasn’t been said before. I was really shocked at how quickly the horror and violence escalated towards the end.

Samurai Rebellion 1967
Excellent Samurai movie that tells a deeply human story about the struggle between social standing and standing up for justice. Really beautiful cinematography, from the opening shots of the focus shifting between the sword and swordsman to the scene of ichi confronting her relatives as shadows dance in the background. I love how stage-like the movie is, with the setting largely limited to a family estate. It really builds a stifling, claustrophobic environment as the inevitable tragedies build.

Brother life is a bitch and she's back in heat.
Really fun film with a lot of great one liners. I thought the social commentary anti-Reagan aspect was going to be more heavy handed than it actually was and really neat to see a normally right-wing genre (paranoid conspiracy alien people) used for leftist politics.
